1. Technical Estimates & Discovery

All digital or “site-unseen” estimates provided via our portal or email are preliminary and non-binding. A final project cost is established only after a physical Technical Intake and inspection at our Wolfforth studio.

Discovery Clause: Restoration often reveals hidden structural failures or unstable previous repairs once finishes are removed. Should our diagnostic process reveal needs beyond the original scope, we will pause work and issue a mandatory Estimate Addendum. No additional labor is performed without express client approval.

2. Sourcing & Specialized Procurement

Antique and lamp restoration often requires extensive research to locate period-accurate hardware. Costs for parts, shipping, and applicable taxes are pass-through charges added to the final invoice. Specialized research to locate rare components may incur an additional fee.

3. Transport & Logistics Facilitation

Reimagined Antiques does not provide in-house pickup or delivery services. We act as facilitators to recommend and negotiate professional third-party movers. While we remain present for all workshop pickups and deliveries to oversee handling, liability for the item during transit rests solely with the third-party carrier.

4. Payment & Pickup Requirements

To maintain workshop flow and insurance standards, the following timelines are strictly enforced:

Final Payment
3 Business Days
Workshop Pickup
3 Business Days

*Items remaining beyond 14 days without prior arrangement incur a storage fee of $10 per day.

5. Master Artisan Guarantee

We provide a one-year limited warranty on all structural joinery performed by our artisans and a 30-day satisfaction guarantee on finishing touch-ups. We are not responsible for damage caused by extreme environmental changes (humidity, dryness, or sunlight) once a piece leaves our studio.

The Forensic Standard: Why Preservation Exceeds Standard Refinishing

The Artisan Standard: Why Preservation Exceeds Standard Refinishing

How Reimagined Antiques Bridges the Gap Between Art and Technical Mastery in West Texas.

Professional artisan antique furniture restoration in a Lubbock workshop focusing on heirloom conservation and structural repair.

Our diagnostic approach separates professional conservation from basic refinishing.

In the world of historical conservation, the term “refinishing” is often a misnomer that strikes fear into the hearts of serious collectors. At Reimagined Antiques, we believe that true Antique Furniture Restoration in Lubbock requires a higher calling: the Artisan Restoration Standard. This is not merely about making wood look new; it is a rigorous structural and aesthetic audit of an object’s soul.

When a precious heirloom enters our Upland Ave Workshop, we do not reach for heavy-grit sandpaper or industrial strippers. We reach for specialized knowledge, technical insight, and historical records. For the discerning collector, understanding why preservation exceeds standard refinishing is the difference between maintaining a valuable investment and destroying a legacy.

Beyond Aesthetics: The Diagnostic Audit of History

Every antique tells a story through its finish. A 19th-century mahogany highboy carries different markers than a pioneer-era pine chest found in the West Texas Panhandle. Standard refinishing shops treat all wood the same—they strip it to the bare grain, erasing the history of the piece. Our artisan standard is superior because it respects the original builder’s intent.

Our process begins with a Diagnostic Finish Analysis. We identify original resins, whether they be early shellacs, spirit varnishes, or seed-lacquers. By identifying these materials, we can often utilize amalgamation techniques to re-liquefy the original finish, flowing it back into the wood fibers to close “checks” without removing the historic material. This maintains the “Patina of Age,” which often accounts for up to 70% of an antique’s market value.

RESTORATION ELEMENT STANDARD REFINISHING ARTISAN STANDARD
Surface Treatment Sanding to bare wood fibers. Technical rejuvenation of original resins.
Adhesives Rigid yellow wood glue or epoxy. Traditional, reversible Hide Glues.
Finish Coating Polyurethane (Plastic-based). Authentic Shellac, Wax, or Oil.

Why Lubbock Collectors Demand the Artisan Method

In our local “Hub City” climate, the extreme humidity swings of the South Plains cause wood to move violently. Standard furniture repair often fails in Lubbock because it utilizes rigid modern glues that eventually crack the surrounding wood as it expands. Our method utilizes Reversible Hide Glues. This allows the piece to breathe with the West Texas atmosphere, ensuring its longevity for another hundred years.
